Mario
Vidor was born
in 1948 in Farra di Soligo , where he currently lives. Keen on painting,
he started with some experiences in this art and then devoted himself
entirely to photography. Since 1982 he has being carrying our a personal
research which starts from the teaching of the greatest image masters of
this century and then develops then into two directions: the
historical-scientific survey and the creative language.
His first publication dates back to 1989. Today his photographic books
are 15, besides 19 volumes he has illustrated for various publishers and
6 photolithographic portfolios.
He was awarded a prize at the "Premio Bancarella di Pontremoli"
for his book "Semplicemente Italia" and in Macerata at the
Meeting Territorio Odissea 2000 for his book "Le Torri di Babele".
Moreover, in 1996 he won a prize at the photography exhibition
"Carlo Goldoni" in Venice.
He held over hundredtwentyfive personal exhibitions in the main Italian
towns, in France, Germany, U.S.A, in the Popular Republic of China,
Croatia, Austria, Slovenia and Canada. He exhibited in popular seats
like "Frame O' Rama" in New York, at Sicof Cultura in Milan
(I), at Bauhaus in Mannheim (D), at the International Exhibition of
Photography in Paris (F), at the Diaframma in Milan (I), at the
"Spot" in Zagreb (HR), at the Civic Museum in Rijeka (HR), at
the Popular Museum of Albona (HR), at the Civic Museum of Pinguente
(HR), at the Stolp Gallery in Maribor (SLO), at the Photokina in Cologne
(D), at the International Centre of Contemporary Art (Peking), at the
Italian-German Cultural Association in Venice (I), at the Dynamic in
Graz (A), at the "Fondazione Querini Stampalia" in Venice (I),
at the "Spazio Olivetti" in Venice (I), at the Charles Scott
Gallery Emilicars Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver (CA), at the
Wagner Museum in Bayreuth (D).
Some of his works belong to the collections of some museums and art
galleries such as: the "Diaframma" in Milan, the Civic Museum
in Vittorio Veneto, the Institute Querini Stampalia, the Croatian
Museums in Albona, Pinguente, Pisino and Rovigno, the National Library
in France, the International Centre of Contemporary Art in Peking and
the Charles Scott Gallery Emilicars Institute of Art and Design in
Vancouver (CA).
